Be Our Guest

We welcome members’ guests to Vancouver Lawn Tennis & Badminton Club and hope you enjoy your visit. The Club works hard to preserve our traditions and to ensure the enjoyment for all Members and their guests. For the comfort of both you and our members, please follow the guidelines below when visiting the Club.

Members and guests are expected to dress appropriately for activities, functions and special events.

Clubhouse Attire

Casual attire is permitted in the Clubhouse and all dining areas, unless stated otherwise for special events. Players’ attire may be worn throughout the Clubhouse. Bathing suits may be worn only in the locker rooms, the corridors leading to the pool, and the pool area. Footwear must be worn in the Clubhouse at all times.

Court Attire

Players must wear appropriate racquets clothing that is predominately white when playing Tennis, Badminton, and Squash. Each article of visible clothing, excluding shoes, may not have more than 10% colour. This includes hats and warm-up suits. Shoes with soles that mark the court are not permitted. Clay court shoes may be worn only on the clay courts and in the clay court vestibule and are strictly prohibited elsewhere on Club property.

Cell phones and laptops must be kept on mute. It is prohibited to talk on a cell phone in the Club. Texting is permitted.

Business papers, laptops, and handheld devices (excluding cell phone feature) are allowed in the Players' Lounge, Players' Bistro, the Pub, and the meeting rooms, provided that the laptop and/or handheld device are muted.
Smoking is prohibited on Club property.
Guests may pay by debit or credit card. If a guest is paying by credit card, a 2.5% non-Member service charge will be added to the bill. The Club does not accept cash with the exception of special functions where a cash bar is set up specifically for that function.
A gratuity of 15% is automatically added to all food and beverages. Additional tipping of employees is prohibited.
Parking in the Club lots is generally restricted to Vancouver Lawn Members. Vehicles must have their license plates registered with Member Services and a parking decal clearly displayed. Overnight parking is not permitted unless the driver is unable to operate their vehicle safely. Guests who are attending an event in one of the function rooms may park in the front lot or roof-top lot. Otherwise, on-site parking is NOT available for guests, reciprocal guests, or visiting tournament participants. Ample street parking can be found in the neighbourhood free of charge.

Please click here to view the applicable Juniors Hours and note that children are permitted in the Club every day, though not at all hours of the day.

  • Children under 19 are required to observe Junior hours.
  • Juniors 12 and under must be supervised by an adult at all times.
  • Juniors 13-19 may be on the Club premises without adult supervision as long as they are abiding by Club rules.

Children age 7 and under must be accompanied by an adult in the pool at all times. Children between the ages of 8 and 10 must have an adult on the pool deck watching them at all times. Failure to supervise children for whom one is responsible while in the pool enclosure will result in a loss of pool privileges. Children under 19 years may use the pool only when a lifeguard is on duty.
Proper fitness clothing and shoes are mandatory and must be worn at all times when using the fitness facilities. Use of the fitness room is restricted to Members and guests aged 13 years and older.
